Learn how to implement and document network changes across Linux, Cisco IOS, and Azure environments, using standardized configurations and security baselines. In this course, you’ll build the ability to apply initial configuration templates to network hardware, enforce a standard security configuration baseline on new devices, and execute pre-approved network changes based on detailed work orders. You’ll also develop practical skills for monitoring routing protocol adjacencies and implementing a pre-defined static route on a network device—capabilities that support safe, repeatable change execution in real operational settings. You’ll progress through Linux-focused networking, services, and system updates; move into structured network troubleshooting workflows; strengthen core network fundamentals needed to interpret device behavior and routing adjacency status; and then apply perimeter security concepts in Azure. Along the way, you’ll use hands-on setups such as a Linux VM with sudo access, a multi-node local sandbox for end-to-end connectivity testing, a Cisco IOS practice environment (Packet Tracer, CML, GNS3, or lab hardware), and an Azure subscription-enabled lab using the Azure portal and Azure CLI. You’ll also practice maintaining network documentation, including diagrams and configuration records, so changes remain clear, traceable, and supportable. Content is curated from both Packt and Microsoft to give you multiple expert perspectives and approaches to common network change scenarios across platforms and tools. Ideal for learners who want to demonstrate job-ready capability in implementing controlled network changes and keeping network documentation accurate and up to date.
