О курсе

Learn how to design clear, compelling digital interfaces by connecting visual decisions to communication objectives and core messages. In this course, you’ll practice visual storytelling and build systems for layout, typography, and color that create strong hierarchy, improve scannability, and guide attention in user interfaces. You’ll also apply WCAG-informed typographic practices and color contrast principles to support accessibility and readability, while using color intentionally to communicate interactive states. The learning flow moves from foundational UI concepts and formal visual elements (shape, imagery, typography, and color) into active interface elements and interaction conventions. You’ll strengthen your ability to justify UI design decisions by referencing usability heuristics, accessibility standards, and user feedback, bringing your work together into cohesive, organized screen-based compositions across different content structures and contexts. You’ll need a computer with internet access and access to any UI design tool you prefer; accessibility practice includes an in-browser coding environment. Created by California Institute of the Arts and Scrimba, the multi-author approach offers varied perspectives that help you apply these skills flexibly across real-world design scenarios. Ideal for designers aiming to level up their visual design and UI decision-making.
