Build confidence in monitoring and maintaining modern compute environments with System and Virtual Machine Monitoring. In this hands-on course within the IT Infrastructure Skill Path, you will learn to observe and interpret VM and system health, perform structured diagnostics, and keep services reliable through routine checks, alert response, and tested backup-and-recovery procedures. You’ll also put no-code AI tools to work, generating simple scripts and workflows that automate repetitive administrative tasks. Develop job-ready skills including: monitoring the operational status and resource utilization of virtual machines; running first-response diagnostics for performance and connectivity issues; performing system health checks with systemd and journal-based logging; using monitoring tools to respond to basic, pre-defined alerts; implementing backup strategies and validating restores; and applying generative AI to produce basic automation scripts. The curriculum blends foundational concepts with practical exercises across virtualization platforms, Linux service management, operations tooling, and AI-assisted automation. Created in partnership with **Illinois Tech, IBM, Packt, and LearnQuest**, this course is ideal for aspiring system administrators, NOC and operations analysts, cloud support associates, and early-career IT professionals who want strong, practical capabilities in VM monitoring, Linux service health, backup and recovery, and safe, scalable automation.
