Understand how engineering materials behave under real-world forces and loads. Learn the essential concepts of stress, strain, elasticity, and material deformation used in engineering design. This beginner-friendly course introduces the core principles of Mechanics of Materials and Strength of Materials. Learners will explore how solid bodies respond to compression, tension, bending, torsion, and shear loading. The course explains key engineering concepts including elasticity, stiffness, strength, stress, strain, Hooke's Law, modulus of elasticity, and direct stress analysis. Through practical examples involving wires, springs, bridges, structural members, and engineering components, learners will develop a strong conceptual foundation and gain the ability to analyze material behavior under different loading conditions. The course also introduces basic engineering calculations for deformation and elongation, helping learners connect theory with real engineering applications. By the end of the course, learners will be able to explain material response to loads, evaluate stress-strain relationships, apply fundamental mechanics formulas, and solve introductory strength of materials problems with confidence.
